Roseburg, OR

Name: Dani

History:
Dani started working with dogs in 2016 and has never looked back. As a lifelong lover of dogs, becoming a dog trainer seemed like a natural choice! She began working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments and backgrounds when she became a social group handler at a busy doggy daycare in the Bay Area. With a predisposition towards working with behavior and a voracious appetite for all things "dog", soon just handling dogs was not enough, and she set her sights on learning everything she could about dog training.

Training Philosophy:
Dani treats every dog and case as an individual. She recognizes that while there are certain "best practices" in training, your dog, your circumstances, and your needs are unique. With that in mind, she will work with you to create a training approach that best fits you and your dog.

Services:
Dani offers a variety of packages to tackle situations and training goals of all types. She can work with you on obedience training your puppy or adult dog, leash walking, addressing anxiety and fear, reactivity, and more! She also offers Drop-Off Day Training in partnership with Schreiber Tails Doggy Day Care in Winston, Oregon. This service includes loving, full-day care for your pup, alternating between daycare and training sessions. Dogs receive a minimum of 1.5 hours of individual focused training time per day, including a half-hour training walk service.

Certifications:
Dani is a CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed) certified by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers.

Specializations:
Dani specializes in puppy training, socialization and obedience for adult dogs, as well as complex issues such as reactivity and fear aggression, anxiety, and resource guarding.

Training Methods:
Dani uses reward-based training and a variety of management methods to tackle behavior problems as needed.

Customer Reviews:

  • "I feel so lucky to have found Dani as our dog trainer. We met her via zoom during the pandemic and I was amazed at how much we accomplished with virtual sessions. She not only helped me train my puppy (reducing destructive behaviors, decreasing anxiety, training him for walks and more) but she also taught me how to communicate with him which has proven to be helpful way beyond our training sessions. She was always calm, patient and kind. She provided us with great resources as well. Thank you, Dani for improving my relationship with Chip!"

  • "Dani is so patient and kind! her knowledge and easy instruction helped us immensely with our anxious and reactive dogs. our household couldn't be happier!"

  • "Before, I would get anxious taking Sena out on walks and I would tense up when I saw other people walking towards us. Now, she will look at me and depending on how alert she looks, I create the distance she needs from the person. We haven't had her bark on walks - even at night."

  • "Dani has been so helpful with our very reactive 6 year old German Shepherd. Her thoughtful lesson plans have helped us make big improvements."

  • I worked with Dani for 2 months doing virtual training. Two of the main things that I needed help with were Chewy's reactivity to other dogs on walks, and his separation anxiety. I was initially worried that virtual training might not work for us, but it actually worked out better than expected. I can say that I have seen a huge improvement in both areas. I am now able to get him to focus on me if we come across another dog during our walks using a simple command more than 80% of the time. Before it was practically impossible. She had exercises laid out for us for each session and gave us exercises to practice at home in between sessions. The exercises were very useful and something that we are going to continue doing post training."

  • Dani is our favourite trainer—and we’ve used quite a few! She has a calming, supportive, gracious energy that made me, as her client, feel like there are no mistakes when learning to train my pup, but rather every success and near-failure is just another opportunity to learn to better communicate with my pupper, Bridget.
When we first started with Dani, my pupper Bridget was about 6 months old and I was fairly successfully training Bridget on my own, using positive reinforcement techniques from some renowned trainers I follow on Instagram. But I had made some sort of mistake somewhere because Bridget was resource guarding when around other dogs! And I couldn’t find anything to address her specific guarding behavior.
Enter Dani, who explained what was going on, how it could be unlearned, and offered comprehensive techniques (and so much encouragement!).

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
