The Pet Sitters LLC focuses on creating and maintaining strong, happy bonds between pets and people through positive reinforcement training and science-based understanding of animal behavior. They use certifications in training instruction and behavior modification, and have been involved in professional animal care since 1996, with training becoming a larger part of their services in 2008.
The business regularly attends seminars to continue their education and experience, and holds certifications in training instruction and behavior modification from intensive training courses. They are also certified in Canautics—a swimming program for dogs. In November 2015, they opened The Pet Sitter’s Wellness Center, providing individualized training programs, boarding, and swim opportunities. Their ultimate goal is to help people grow a strong and happy bond with their pets. They serve locations in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, and Hills.
Their training philosophy revolves around the concept that behavior which is reinforced will be repeated. They use equipment such as a clicker and reinforcement based on what is reinforcing for each individual pet, including food and toys.
