Before establishing Treasured Creatures in early 2022, Sydney gained two years of experience as a dog trainer. She began her professional dog training career by addressing customer inquiries and instructing dog training classes at a pet supplies store. Subsequently, she worked at a dog day school, where she trained dogs to execute basic obedience behaviors such as ‘stay’ and ‘leave it.’ Her work also involved addressing behavioral issues like excessive play biting, jumping on people, counter surfing, mild fear/anxiety, and resistance towards grooming and other body handling.
In 2017, Sydney completed degrees in Behavioral Biology and Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. Around the same time, she brought a miniature goldendoodle into her life and named her Bella. During her college years, Sydney had experience training bats for research studies, but she wanted to ensure that Bella received the best training possible. This prompted her to delve into the world of dog training. As she learned more about dog training and worked on training Bella, Sydney’s passion for learning and refining her training skills grew. Her dedication led her to pursue a professional career in dog training.
Sydney completed CATCH’s Master Dog Training Course, which provided her with a deeper understanding of training dogs and interpreting dog body language. Following her formal education, she continued expanding her knowledge about dogs and their training through practical experiences and independent study.
