“Best Friend” – Companion Dog Training, LLC offers group classes such as Puppy/Beginner Basics, Beyond the Basics, Pet Dog Excellent, Tricks, and AKC CGC. They also provide in-home training and a new puppy program called “Play and Train” pre-school.
The owner holds certifications in training and uses body harnesses, basic flat collars, and head collars for behavior modification, along with non-retractable leashes. Their training philosophy emphasizes building a positive relationship based on trust and respect, without the use of pain as a training tool.
“Best Friend” – Companion Dog Training serves Appleton, Green Bay, and the Fox Valley area. They offer various levels of group training, including puppy socialization, basic behavior training, and advanced behavior application in real-world settings.
The Puppy Beginner Basics class covers fundamental behaviors, relationship building, problem solving, and confidence building exercises. Additionally, they offer “Puppy Pre-School,” providing one-on-one management and manners training in clients’ homes before formal group classes.
Beyond the Basics challenges novice dogs to continue learning and includes basic behaviors as well as valuable management and emergency techniques. The Pet Dog Excellent – Life in the Real World class is an advanced level course that takes learned behaviors into real-world settings.
The class visits local businesses, parks, hiking trails, and busy downtown settings to apply learned behaviors, aiming to create well-behaved dogs comfortable in various environments. In addition to group classes, “Best Friend” – Companion Dog Training provides private in-home or facility-based training to modify problem behaviors, while more severe aggression cases are referred out.
