Laurie Dawson offers private, in-home dog training services for puppies and dogs of all ages. Services include day training, behavior modification, working with fearful dogs, and dogs with disabilities.
Laurie’s certifications include KPA CTP, and she utilizes basic training equipment such as flat collars, leashes, and harnesses, as well as advanced equipment like the Gentle Leader and Head Halter. Her training philosophy focuses on positive reinforcement using a marker (clicker) and avoids intimidation, physical punishment, or fear-based methods, along with aversive equipment such as prong collars, choke chains, shock or e-collars.
Laurie serves various cities in Washington and offers remote training options for outlying areas. Laurie’s credentials include being a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, Certified Puppy Start Right Instructor, Fear Free Certified Professional, and Licensed Be a Tree Presenter. She is also a member of the Pet Professional Guild and Association of Professional Dog Trainers, both of which promote force-free, positive training methods.
Laurie has raised puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind and is a registered therapy team with Pet Partners. She is involved in volunteer activities, including being a Mobile Meals driver and Make-a-Wish grant writer. With four dogs of her own, Laurie enjoys training them and finds it rewarding to work with dogs of all ages. Training is provided in the client’s home at their convenience, with no reason for delay.
