Eastern Sierra Dog Sports originated from a necessity for improved dog training methods. With over 25 years of experience in dog handling, studying animal behavior, and understanding optimal dog learning, Kelly offers a diverse range of training classes.
Her extensive knowledge allows her to effectively connect with both human and canine students. Dogs of all ages, including puppies and adults, excel in our classes. Additionally, shy, fearful, and exuberant dogs are all welcome. For specific challenges, one-on-one lessons are available to provide focused attention, and private sessions can be arranged.
The primary objective is to equip dogs with the necessary skills to become well-behaved family members, fostering joyous companionship. Kelly holds certifications in AKC CGC and IAABC-ADT and operates as the Owner/Trainer. She prioritizes minimal training equipment, emphasizing the importance of developing a relationship based on trust, consistency, and practice. A simple flat buckle or martingale collar and a six-foot lead are recommended.
The training philosophy adheres to the principle that less is more, emphasizing simplicity. The approach is science-based, focusing on desired dog behavior rather than discouraging unfavorable actions. Punitive methods and harsh corrections are not employed.
Eastern Sierra Dog Sports conducts group classes in Mammoth Lakes and Bishop CA and serves the Eastern Sierra region, extending from Bridgeport to Lone Pine and into Nevada. Services are offered in English. Kelly holds certifications in IAABC-ADT, APDT, PPG-PDT, CERTIFIED FEAR FREE PROFESSIONAL, AKC Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog Evaluator, S.T.A.R.
