Jeanie Duffield, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Canine Behavior Consultant, established BEYOND OBEDIENCE in 1980, a consulting and training business focusing on puppy and dog behavior.
Jeanie teaches in-person private lessons for puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs, and she consults on behavior problems. Her emphasis is on reward-based training, avoiding aversives in her work.
She operates in the Reno/Tahoe/Truckee area, providing services in Lake Tahoe, CA, Truckee, CA, and Reno, NV. Her training equipment philosophy is ‘The less the better!’ utilizing clickers, harnesses, martingale collars, and long lines (NOT retractable!).
Jeanie’s goal is to help people understand their dogs more fully and to develop a deeper connection with them through education and appropriate training, management, and handling. She has been teaching puppy development and canine manners classes and assisting people in resolving their dogs’ behavior problems for nearly 30 years, the last 20 of which have been in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee/Reno area.
Constantly updating her knowledge, Jeanie attends several canine behavior and training seminars annually, interacts with a network of behaviorists and trainers, and reads numerous books and publications regarding dogs each year. She also contributes articles to various publications.
Integrating non-forceful training methods, behavior modification techniques, wholesome nutrition, natural remedies, bodywork, and better communication, Jeanie aims to help people celebrate, honor, and create a more profound connection with their beloved dogs, ultimately improving the quality of their lives.
