Janice Liscinsky is the owner and trainer of The Perfect Pup, LLC, a training facility that believes in making dog training an enjoyable experience. The Perfect Pup uses games to build confidence, maintain focus, and reduce environmental distractions, ultimately increasing the dog’s attentiveness to the owner.
The training approach is based on scientifically proven positive reinforcement, which focuses on rewarding desired behaviors. This method emphasizes collaboration between the dog and the owner, setting the dog up for success by rewarding good choices. The key to successful training lies in establishing a strong, trusting communication with the dog through engaging games and clear instruction.
Janice is a certified dog trainer (CPDT-KA) by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and an honors graduate of Animal Behavior College. Additionally, she is a Family Dog Mediator (FDM), having completed Kim Brophy’s LEGS Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation Course, which delves into the intersection of canine and human evolution, welfare, behavior, and relationship.
Janice is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Continuously pursuing education, she attends seminars and reads educational books on training and animal behavior to further her expertise. Janice has completed numerous seminars from Ian Dunbar, alongside other industry experts, and is an AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator.
All training at The Perfect Pup is conducted using positive reinforcement to reward desired behavior. Janice’s passion for animals began at an early age, growing up with numerous pets. Currently residing in Deep River, CT with her partner Dave and their German Shepherds, Anka and Dexter, Janice has been a dog handler/trainer at various adoption events and has conducted follow-up home visits with adopters to ensure the well-being of both the dogs and their new families.
