K9 Healers offers Level 1 companion dog obedience classes and Level 2 sessions to prepare dogs for therapy dog evaluation and work. The training is force-free, and Gail, the owner and trainer, emphasizes reward-based obedience using food, praise, and love.
The training equipment used includes flat buckle collars and 6-foot nylon or leather leashes. K9 Healers serves the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York, including Monroe, Ontario, Yates, Seneca, and Wayne counties, as well as parts of the Southern Tier region.
Gail provides group classes or private lessons and is certified through the Animal Behavior Institute in Animal Assisted Therapy, specializing in Animal Assisted Intervention training. K-9 Healers can also evaluate for the Advanced Community Canine, Canine Good Citizen, STAR puppy, and APDT C.L.A.S.S.
Gail is the founder and former director of Therapy Dogs International Chapter #216. The goal of K-9 Healers is to enrich the relationship between the handler and their dog, fostering a connection based on trust and love between people of all ages and their dogs.
