Just Like Home Pet Sitting and Training offers in-home private consultations and training for behavior problems with a specialty in working with young puppies, separation anxiety, and basic house and public manners.
The trainer provides small semi-private classes, accommodating up to 4 students at a time.

- Training Philosophy: The approach emphasizes positive games and humor to help owners understand the exercises and to ensure that dogs have fun. The belief is that when both human and dog enjoy the process, there is better retention of the lesson.
- Locations Served: Menlo Park to the north, Belmont/Foster City, and south to Sunnyvale/Cupertino, as well as east to Woodside, Ladera/Portola Valley.
The trainer utilizes positive reinforcement techniques, including clicker training and food/toy treats. However, there is also an emphasis on teaching puppies and dogs about the consequences of misbehavior. Negative consequences are limited to simple collar corrections or time-outs, followed by a fresh start.
Training equipment includes leashes, slip collars, and/or prong collars. No fancy halters or head harnesses are used, as they are believed to potentially harm a dog’s neck. This type of equipment was originally designed for use with horses, according to the trainer’s perspective.
It is acknowledged that not all training programs work for every dog. The approach is to customize the training plan for each unique pet.
