Takacs Dog Training offers positive in-home training and behavioral consultations for all dogs and their owners, including puppies and transitional programs for newly adopted rescue dogs.
The owner/trainer, certified in appropriate food rewards, leashes, and harnesses, follows a philosophy of positive training in the home. This approach not only addresses unwanted behaviors but also the mindset that causes those behaviors. In-home training ensures that positive change is enjoyable and lasting.
Service areas include the Chicagoland area in Illinois, Lake, Porter, LaPorte, and St. Joseph Counties in Northwest Indiana, as well as Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties in Southwest Michigan. The trainer received education through FernDog Trainer Academy and currently volunteers as an onsite trainer at the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana.
Training sessions are available in the evening from 6:
00 pm to 9:00 pm and on weekends. The initial phone consultation is complimentary. The cost for a single session is $40, and a package of three sessions is available for $100. Each training session lasts approximately an hour and a half. For those with rescue dogs, providing proof of adoption will result in a portion of the paid session fees being donated to the respective rescue organization.
