Peterson’s Positive Pups is a positive reinforcement-based education program offering effective communication methods for dog handlers. Serving Delaware since 1990, Peterson’s Positive Pups specializes in CPDT-designated training for Trainers, Coaches, and Evaluators.
The training equipment used includes body harnesses such as Step-In and Easy-Walk, as well as head harnesses like Halti, flat buckle, and martingale collars. Notably, prong or chain training collars are not used in this program.
With over 40 years of experience, Peterson emphasizes positive reinforcement as the most successful and enjoyable communication method when working with animals. The program shares knowledge about animal behavior and positive-based behavior modification techniques. The services are available in Delaware, as well as nearby areas of Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Peterson’s Positive Pups offers comprehensive group classes for effective, natural communication through step-by-step training methods, utilizing praise and positive reinforcement to train dogs. The program provides written Training Guides, practice, and handouts to support both private and group lessons. Group classes ensure a low student-teacher ratio, assistance between classes, and post-graduation follow-up.
The program offers various types of group classes, including the Foundation class, Trick Dog class, What Every Good Dog Should Know, CGC-Advanced, CGC-Urban, and Therapy Dog class. These classes cater to puppies, newly adopted dogs, dogs in need of basic manners, and those looking to earn AKC titles or improve their dog’s behavior.
Furthermore, Peterson’s Positive Pups offers private sessions ranging from short Head Start courses to multi-visit programs for rehabilitating reactive dogs, as well as general manners and obedience training.
