Sammye's Dogs' training philosophy centers around humane and effective methods, grounded in the latest scientific evidence. The protocols are designed to set both you and your dog up for success. The approach involves utilizing reward-based, clicker-style teaching, aimed at fostering a more compassionate relationship between humans and animals.
Together, the team works towards training goals by reinforcing and training desired behaviors, interrupting and preventing undesirable behaviors, and making adjustments while considering the dog's progress, physical health, and emotional state. Sammye Darling is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer Knowledge and Skills Assessed (CPDT-KSA) with over a decade of experience in dog training. Her passion began with rescuing homeless dogs, making them more adoptable, and assisting in the training of service animals for individuals with disabilities.
In 2015, she established her own 501c3 non-profit organization with the aim of furthering these efforts. Sammye tailors her training to each client and their dog, creating customized training plans to achieve specific goals or behavior modifications. The focus is on enhancing owners' skills and strengthening the human-animal bond with their beloved dogs. She provides follow-up emails detailing the information covered in lessons.
In addition to one-on-one training, Sammye enjoys teaching group and Zoom classes, as well as offering board-and-training services in her home and in owners' homes. With a diverse skill set, Sammye is adept at training dogs with various behavioral traits, including those that are high energy, overly excited, distracted, impulsive, attention-seeking, fearful, anxious, or destructive when alone. She also works with dogs exhibiting behaviors such as jumping on people, pulling or biting the leash, pottying in the home, digging in the yard, counter surfing or stealing food or objects, darting out doors, barking, resource guarding, leash aggression, or threatening other animals.
Sammye's ultimate goal with every client is to empower them to manage, train, and maintain their dog's training independently, so that they no longer need her assistance and feel confident in their abilities.
