Kayla R. Delp
Kayla Delp's journey into dog training began as a volunteer at Animal Friends in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a dog walker, dog training assistant, and assisted at public events. After relocating to North Carolina, she enrolled in the Master Class program at CATCH Canine Trainer Academy to earn her Certified Dog Trainer certification. She completed the program in May 2018 and became a Certified Dog Trainer. Kayla's original plan was to simply work with people teaching their dogs basic obedience, but her canine daughter and Canine Partner, Crystal, introduced her to behavioral issues that included anxiety, aggression, leash reactivity, fearful of people and life in general. This led to Kayla specializing in canine behavior cases.
Training Philosophy
Kayla's dog training philosophy is force-free, positive reinforcement that emphasizes building a bond with your dog and learning to understand him or her. She uses what is reinforcing to each individual dog whether it be food, toys, play, etc. for desired behaviors. She uses a no reward marker word (examples: oops, uh-oh, ah, etc.) or ignore undesired behavior. Force-free, positive reinforcement dog training does not involve the use of pain, fear, or force.
