Kasey Joy Nash

Kasey Joy Nash has been raising and training Service Dogs since 2006, and in that time personally raised 15 service dogs start to finish.
She attended and earned her Assistance Dog Training Certification from Bergin University of Canine Studies in 2015 and has maintained her CPDT-KA through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers since 2016.
She has worked in various dog and disability related positions throughout her life.

Training Philosophy

Kasey uses modern, humane dog training methods based in established behavioral sciences.
These methods prioritize the canine-human relationship through communication, ethology and patience; Kasey does not use pain or fear as training tools as they are not only unnecessary, but counter-productive in creating the type of drive and stability necessary for a dog to excel at and enjoy the lifestyle of a service dog.

Services

Kasey offers customized training plans and opportunities based on individual needs, preferences, personalities and budgets.
She offers different types of training lessons to support owner-training, including consultations, private lessons, day training, board and train, group outings, and seminars.
She also offers trained service dogs at different levels of training: started service dogs, partially trained service dogs, and fully trained service dogs.

Customer Reviews

  • “I have been training dogs for 40 years. And training my own service dogs for almost 20. I have worked with dozens of positive dog trainers. But Kasey is one of a kind! I immediately recognized she has skills way beyond mine and has so much knowledge of dog training and working service dogs. Far beyond most trainers.
I am so impressed with her that I asked her to produce and begin training my next service dog for me when my current girl retires. Joyful Paws is AMAZING!”
    — Chanda H
  • “....if you are searching for an outstanding service dog trainer, not to mention truly wonderful person, then stop right here. The search is over! Kasey is without a doubt the best of the best. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with her and with Joyful Paws. Kasey also offered several service dog training seminars, each of which was full of extraordinarily useful, interesting and valuable information. I was so thankful to have had the opportunity to attend and learn from several of Kasey’s seminars. Overall, I really just can’t say enough about Kasey and Joyful Paws. Kasey is absolutely a rare treasure in the world of service dog training. I honestly do not know where I would be without her. Thank you so very much, Kasey. You have truly changed my family’s life. We so appreciate you!”
    — Brina S
  • “Kasey uses the most up to date and humane methods when training my dog. She doesn’t use pain fear or intimidation to train my dog. She is kind, fair, and loving toward my dog. I drive 5 hours round trip to train with Kasey and I would not have it any other way. She is worth it!”
    — Em N
  • “Kasey is kind, knowledgable, and patient. She truly believes in helping you and your dog grow as a team. I learned so much from her and I am so grateful for the help she has given me with my SDiT. She is the best!”
    — Hannah C
  • “I wish I could leave 10 stars. Kasey is by far the most kind and compassionate trainer I have ever worked with. I found her on accident and the fact she specialized as a service dog trainer was an amazing find for us. A friend recommended this group and I took my pup to a class she was teaching. She immediately made me feel comfortable and took a lot of extra time chatting with me and helping me with my pup. I met other clients of hers and all they could do was sing her praises.
If it wasn’t an all day flight to see her, I would still train with her as much as possible. I am jealous of the people that get to work with Kasey as she is an amazing human being and an excellent service dog trainer. I know Ollie, my pup, misses her as he became a complete mush ball everytime we met with her, and he is VERY selective about people he likes. He LUVS her.
I just can’t say enough about how amazing Kasey is. I would happily talk to any person considering her as a service dog trainer and vouch for her 100%.”
    — Dorothy H

    — Renee G.
  • “Kasey’s techniques and positive solutions for training are amazing. I always walk away learning something new about training and my dog...Thank you Kasey for changing my life as I couldn’t have asked for the absolute best Service Dog that serves me everyday and for that I am truly grateful.”
    — Susannah F
  • “Leo and I had worked with 3 other trainers while we were doing our research and although all were kind and good at what they do, none compared to Kasey. Kasey is everything we needed. Like Leo, I need patience and understanding of my limits, Kasey exceeds my expectations. I appreciate her fun and happy approach to training.”
    — Barbara M
  • “Kasey is an experienced and compassionate dog trainer and a wonderful person. I highly recommend her!”
    — Betsey J
  • “Kasey is both up-to-date on latest training techniques and dog behavioral science, and is incredibly intuitive to the needs of the dog. She has a positive, affirming, and supportive style, which is gentle but incredibly effective— and better than any other trainer I’ve worked with. With her guidance I was able to bring my dog to a higher level of training, confidence, and comfort, and I feel confident working as a team with my dog.”

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
