Karen Lanoue-Lambrecht is the head instructor and owner of PAWSitively Obedient. Karen is a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers along with holding numerous certifications. They are:
- Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed, through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers
- an Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
- an AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Tricks evaluator
- Family Paws Parent Educator and Dog Gone Safe Member.
Karen is committed to continuing education, and stays current by attending numerous educational seminars throughout the year. As she is a Certified instructor she must have 36 hours of continuing education credits every 3 years to keep her certifications current.
Karen graduated from Becker Junior College in 1976, where she received an Associate of Science degree in the Veterinary Assistant Program. She was a veterinary technician at Angell Memorial Hospital for nearly seven years. While there she became interested in dog training as she had acquired an untrained 9 month old American Eskimo pup who had numerous behavior problems. Karen took him to a companion class given by Dr. Amy Marder, an animal behaviorist-veterinarian at Angell Memorial Hospital.
Soon after completing the course Karen asked to monitor the classes to learn more. She became seriously interested in behavior and training and was offered a job as a training assistant for Dr. Marder’s classes. She fueled her interest by attending classes and seminars and reading books by other trainers. Karen’s philosophy was guided by the positive reinforcement techniques taught by Dr. Ian Dunbar, a noted behaviorist and veterinarian. He started an Association of Professional Dog Trainers in 1993 of which Karen is a current member. Their mission is to build better trainers through education. Karen embraces that mission and believes that through her instruction she can build more knowledgeable dog owners.
Karen moved to Marshfield and found there was not much of a choice in training classes for owners and their puppies. She started her own business in 1995 and offered indoor and outdoor classes at varying locations on the South Shore. She has 4 certified instructors that work with her along with several assistants mentoring who are on the path to becoming certified instructors.

We've got the answers for your questions
Seriously, if you have any questions about training your dog, we have the answers.
We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.
Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.
All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.
Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.
Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.
Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.
Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.
All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.
Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.
Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
