Hounds Around Town Dog Training Studio located in Lake Tapps was established in 2005 by Jennifer. She gained valuable experience by mentoring under a well-recognized local trainer for nine months.
Following this, Jennifer completed an instructor apprenticeship program at a positive-reinforcement-based training facility in Tacoma, passing both a written and practical exam. She also managed a premier dog training facility in Sumner, Washington from 2012 to 2015.
Jennifer is committed to constantly refining and improving her training methods and behavior knowledge. She achieves this by attending seminars and workshops, collaborating with recognized trainers, and engaging with respected literature. Over the last three years, Jennifer has accumulated 200 hours of continuing education through live seminars and workshops, covering topics such as canine behavior concerns, behavior modification protocols, canine cognition, animal learning science & application, and canine ethology.
Jennifer's certifications include being a Training Director, utilizing standard leash and harness as well as canine fitness equipment. Her training philosophy centers around positive reinforcement and follows the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach to behavior modification and training.
She serves various locations including Sumner, Lake Tapps, Auburn, Lakeland Hills, Edgewood, and Bonney Lake in Washington.
Jennifer is a Full Member Dog Trainer of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), a Supporting Member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).
Currently residing in Lake Tapps, Washington, Jennifer and her husband, Ken, enjoy an active lifestyle, often hiking and having fun with their 5-year-old Doberman pup, Marvel.
