Jason Tesoriero
History
Jason started This Dog's Day in July of 2016. After spending a few months assisting a positive reinforcement trainer as a hobby, he realized he wanted to work with dogs professionally. So he launched his dog walking services and continued his education at Paws4Training for three years. Within weeks of operation, he had several amazing dog clients, and a profound sense of pride in caring for these dogs on their walks. Walking a reactive or shy dog and keeping them safe, calm, and happy with positive techniques quickly became his favorite parts of the day. In June of 2017, after hundreds of happy walks and over 1000 miles biked (he biked to walks in the early days), he embarked on the next adventure for This Dog's Day... off-leash park outings! From the beginning, he knew this was the direction he wanted to be heading in, and he is very excited to have made the transition to parks. After several years of working with groups of dogs at the park, he decided to continue his education in dog training. In December of 2023, he completed the Dog Trainer Professional program through the Karen-Pryor Academy. He is now a Certified Training Partner, and has made commitments to further his education.
Training Philosophy
Jason firmly believes that a no-force science based approach using positive reinforcement techniques is the only acceptable method of handling or training a dog.
Services
This Dog's Day Seattle offers a variety of services, including:
- Private Leashed Dog Walk (Training Walk): A 20-minute private leash walk where they work on various training goals, including loose leash walking, heel, attention and focus, minor leash reactivity, and wait. All training methods used are science-based positive reinforcement techniques as taught by the Karen-Pryor Academy. You'll receive a brief summary at the end of every walk.
- Off-Leash Park Adventure: Off-leash outings five days a week to Magnuson Dog Park. For an hour each day, your dog will get socialization, play, and exercise under the close watch of a positive reinforcement professional dog trainer. Each park outing is concluded with an email summary of your dogs' experience along with a couple photos from the day.
- Coaching Sessions: 30-minute sessions that can cover a variety of training goals inside and out of the home. If you're also signed up for training walks, you will walk alongside a certified trainer and learn how to clicker train your dog. This helps them use the same cues when communicating with your pup and leads to better training outcomes. It is recommended to schedule at least one coaching session for every 2-3 training walks.
