Customer Reviews

Jaclyn & PJ, 4/20/20 online training:
"We had been looking for a dog for a long time, but wanted to make sure we got a dog when we had the time to train him. Then we started working from home during COVID and thought “we have the time!”
We did, but we didn’t have the skills to manage a puppy. We had googled “do people hate their puppies” a few too many times and nicknamed him “spawn of Satan” for his biting and keeping us up at night. We had tried watching YouTube videos, but without someone giving us feedback or advice on how to correct, we never knew if we were on the right track.
In came Irene to save the day with tips, tricks, and words of comfort to guide us through and provide us invaluable feedback to understand Lewis’s behavior and shape our relationship with him. She’s set us up with training to succeed for the long-term and even for when we have to go back to work! It’s been invaluable and will forever shape our relationship with Lewis!"

Laura S. 4/7/18:
"Irene is an amazing trainer! She is fun, educated, experienced and loves what she does. It is a total pleasure working with her.

When we adopted our first dog he was not potty trained and he was already 1 year old. Everyone said it was impossible. Irene supported us with her confidence and know how. It took some time, but now he is fully potty trained. He also did not know how to play with toys or fetch, and she taught him. She also showed us how to do all of the commands, walk on a leash without pulling, and helped us to crate train him for sleep. Our dog is loving and well trained and we could not be happier.
Thank you Irene for your excellence in training our pup!
Don't hesitate to utilize this service!"

Cathie R. 1/22/17:
"Irene is a wonderfully competent, supremely professional, warmly personable dog trainer. From the first timely Yelp app message reply earlier this week to the time she left my home earlier today, I felt cared for as both a dog owner and a client while receiving impeccable client service. The healthy hour spent at my house was jam-packed with practical tips which I feel confident implementing. I have done a fair amount of dog training with excellent people over the last several years and Irene is the latest addition to that esteemed team. I could not recommend her more highly and, for me, she was worth every penny. I will not hesitate to call her anytime I have another skill to work on."

Carol H. 5/25/18:
"I had heard that Irene was the best and she is, all paws agree! She helped me with my crazy willful puppy who was very demanding. Irene had a positive, calm and kind way of guiding me through a very challenging and stressful time. She is sincere about her support and has faith in what she had taught me. She said if I did the work, my puppy would change, and she was right! It was work, and it has paid off! I thought I might have to give up my puppy, but now my puppy has been showing me that she is a most wonderful, obedient, sweet, and fun puppy!!!
I am having so much fun with her!!! She no longer jumps on me when I work in the yard or garden! She will come over and see what I am doing because she is curious, but there is no malice, no more monster dog! When she is playing, typically she will comply and calm herself. When she is overly tired or hungry, sometimes she will jump and bark, but in play, not demanding like before. When my friends see her now, they are very impressed with her (new) behavior! And they enjoy petting her and playing with her now also.
Irene, words cannot express how grateful I am to you, your ideas and training! I am greatly relieved! I knew there was a enjoyable fun puppy in there somewhere, but that side of her was blocked... temporarily. It brings tears to my eyes that she is a puppy that brings joy to people! She is now showing her "boxer" side, that curious, silly, energetic fun side - thanks to you!
So I owe it to you and your guidance! I cannot thank you enough!"

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
