Customer Reviews

“Ann Marie was a great help with our corgi Cosmo. She helped us practice ways to control his food aggression as well as some of his other less appealing behaviors. She helped us to truly understand why Cosmo behaved the way he did. What seemed baffling and frustrating behavior on Cosmo’s part became an understandable (and treatable!) reaction to his world. Ann Marie knows and loves dogs – and their people too!”

“Owen is 75 pounds and begins to ‘play’ by knocking the girls over and when she gets excited…I [was] terrified that she might actually hurt one of us or act inappropriately toward a friend or stranger. I contacted Ann Marie. She is so understanding of life, people and dogs; and she has a gift of piecing it all together…Owen responded immediately to the training Ann Marie suggested and, with work, had remarkably improved behavior by the following week! Owen continues to make progress and we are so thankful for Ann Marie’s exquisite coaching which helps us incorporate Owen as a fun-loving member of our family.”

“My most recent foster dog has had a myriad of anxieties to overcome and offered me my biggest challenge. The worst of these was refusal and fear about getting into a car…I mentioned this at a board meeting and Ann Marie was mentioned. She was wonderful from the beginning…I have always used positive conditioning or training myself and this is what Ann Marie is all about. I just didn’t know that such an anxious dog requires baby steps. Just like the average person, I wanted to see results, immediately. So, Ann Marie had to train me as well as the dog. My foster passed the “acid test” when I asked him to load up for a trip to the vet. Then 3 of the office girls came out to watch and he readily loaded without the encouragement of a treat!”

“Ann Marie’s outstanding professionalism and kind assistance has thoroughly exceeded any expectations I had!!! She performed a comprehensive analysis of our dog Shelby’s strengths and areas for improvement, in a compassionate and kind manner. My family was provided excellent written guidelines for each behavior area we worked on together. Ann Marie demonstrated great insight and advice to help us curb undesired actions and replace them with attentive and engaging more appropriate ones. She was a delight to learn from every step of the way.”

“Edie’s aggressive behavior towards Lucy created such chaos and tension that we felt peace in our home was a pipe dream. Ann Marie taught us how to effectively use desensitization and counterconditioning, positive interrupt and other techniques to significantly reduce the aggressive behavior. We are enjoying peace in our home once again, and our dogs are less stressed by each other.”

“There has been a noticeable difference in Maggie’s demeanor since working with Ann Marie. She is calmer and more attentive to us instead of reacting to other dogs. Ann Marie is a great trainer and her methods work!!”

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
