Amanda has always held an inquisitiveness and passion for animals since a young age. She has been studying dog training methods since the early 2000's and was initially turned off to the industry due to the inhumane approach commonly taken with methods such as compulsion training. Her interest in dog training was rekindled while learning more about evidence backed dog training methods that minimize stress to the dog in 2014 while training her dog to an advanced level. As she became very interested in learning the most compassionate yet effective ways to teach and modify behavior with dogs, she started preparing to enter the world of professional dog training by studying, working with a variety of dogs, and becoming mentored in preparation for certification. Once becoming a professional dog trainer and having seen so much conflicting and misleading advice floating around pertaining to dog training, and having known what it's like to not know where to turn in a completely unregulated industry, she decided she wanted to help others by creating a dog training company. With the help of her spouse and friends, Intailigent was formed.

Customer Reviews

Mike D
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"We just completed the Behavior Modification training package with our adopted greyhound Madrid and could not be happier with the results! Amanda was amazing to work with, and having the ability to conduct the sessions at our apartment was fantastic! We could not recommend Amanda highly enough.
We adopted Madrid earlier this year and he came to our home straight from the racetrack in Mexico. He had never seen cars or bikes or anything to do with city life, and over the 10 courses Amanda helped us identify what was causing his anxiety and provided us with the tools to improve his behavior. Now we can actually go on walks without stopping a million times, have been able to make huge strides with his resource guarding, and even are making good progress on having him sit (something we were told greyhounds simply couldn't do).
If you are looking for a trainer that can work with you to identify what you want to see out of your dog, and really cares about the results, Amanda and Yes! Dog Training (former company name) is for you!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"We found our sweet girl Micah Ellie through a San Diego Animal rescue as a 4 month old, underdeveloped pup. We knew right away, that we needed help with puppy management. Right from our first session of Puppy Basics, Amanda was so educational and informative from the get-go. She provided very helpful and educational training to get our Micah going on the right track. Every week, we really worked to implement the training goals and completed the additional fun games and socialization homework. Our very shy pup has become a playful and much more confident pup over the 5 sessions with Amanda! She really does teach very crucial skills and at the pup's pace - which we really appreciated. We learned how to practice and refine our skills with great feedback and communication from Amanda every week.
Though our Micah initially started with some socialization challenges, with Intailigent's educated, kind, positive and gentle approach to training, consistent effort, and patience, we can definitely see a positive difference in our pup's overall behavior and confidence
We are so excited to continue onward into the next round of training with Amanda soon!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Without a doubt the best decision we could have made when finding a dog trainer. Amanda is an EXPERT…"
"Our dog came to us (adopted rescue) slightly aggressive, very food/toy protective, and nervous with the outside world. He knew basic sit and stay commands, and very general leash training. After our sessions, the best outcome was his comfort and trust with his new environment. He's a much happier pup because of it. HIGHLY recommend Amanda and YES Dog Training (former company name)."

"Amanda is a amazing at training your dogs. She took my 1 yr old German Shepherd that I adopted in March from a puppy/toddler into a manageable, listening happy puppy and myself into understanding their thoughts and tensions and how to distract him."

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Our trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All our trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
