Customer Reviews

Kelli and Chief: Laura very quickly picked up on Chief's anxiety, his big feelings, even his grief from a recent loss, the potential causes for each, and gave us valuable tools to help him cope. He needed help accepting a new sibling through all of these big big feelings and Laura helped with it all. She readily took a sobbing phone call from an upset dog mom with total care and compassion! Her kindness, compassion, and most importantly, her knowledge, is immense. Chief, Yeti, and I are incredibly thankful and will be life long clients.

Jill and Claire: Like many during lockdown, we decided we needed a pet in order to function. We found our way to a rescue who put Claire in our lives and I can say without a doubt that we would not have been able to keep her if we hadn't been put in touch with Jane. Claire's separation anxiety was so severe that my husband couldn't even go into the backyard without her before she'd start causing herself physical harm, throwing herself at doors and windows even if I were still there. Jane was endlessly kind, patient, and collaborative with us, helping us not just with the core separation anxiety challenges we had but additional scaffolding supportive training like mat training to help teach our anxious girl learn how to relax - a behavior we can now get her to mimic on cue! Jane also responded to nearly every asinine, chaotic or panicked message I sent her as a first time dog parent - with grace and humor, each time.

Lisa, Scott and Pinky: When we adopted a deaf, reactive pup, we knew we needed, and wanted, to find a positive-based trainer who would be able to provide us with the support that both we (the humans!) as well as our dog would need. Laura met with us at length, listened to our concerns, offered insight, tips and suggestions, as well as ongoing support via Zoom meetings, email, and texts. Our dog, Pinky, and we, are still works in progress, but we all have come such a long way in the process, and we've seen such growth and are hopeful moving forward. We are so grateful to Laura and Good Wolff and their deep understanding of dogs and what we as their caregivers can provide to them to be as content and successful as possible in our world!

Kathryn and Willa: Jane has been our expert, our partner, our cheerleader, our therapist and Willa's biggest advocate. She brings evidence-based expertise in desensitization for phobias to our work and has a seemingly endless supply of empathy, humor, kindness, hope and creativity that she marshals to problem-solve even the most intractable challenges in separation anxiety.

Amanda and Maisie: When we found Good Wolff, and started working with Jane, we were exhausted and desperate. Our dog Maisie was experiencing intense separation anxiety and had eaten through moldings and doors. She couldn't be left alone at all and we didn't know what to do. When we connected with Jane, she was so empathetic and supportive. Of Maisie, yes, but also of us. She validated what we had been going through and gave us hope for recovery. She was patient, celebrated our wins, and also helped connect us with a veterinary behaviorist when it was clear we needed help with medication. Now, Maisie is able to be alone for five hours and can spend the day at daycare when we need more time! She's living a better life and so are we! I couldn't recommend Good Wolff more - they are supportive, kind, and knowledgeable. Good for dogs and their humans.

Ellen Balanecki

United States

Ellen Balanecki

Ellen Balanecki believes in positive reinforcement training. This means setting up a pattern of your dog working for a reward, then moving toward working to please you without treats in hand. She believes training should be fun for everyone involved - you and your dog. To that end, she includes some games to play at home that build on skills learned in class. She believes training has a purpose beyond just a few parlor tricks to pull out whenever people visit. She believes training teaches you how to enhance your communication with your dog - and vice versa. When you understand your dog and your dog knows what behaviors are acceptable and pleasing to you, both of you are able to focus more on enjoying each other.

Ellen Balanecki offers group classes and private training.
