Cheryl M. Woolnough
Cheryl M. Woolnough, CPDT-KSA, established Canine Companion Training in 2007. She had a desire to help others build communication with their canine companions. She started teaching training classes at a local YMCA and soon began getting requests for her classes in other locations such as veterinary clinics and training facilities. In 2013 Cheryl began training service dogs for people with mobility challenges. This endeavor combined two passions; training dogs and teaching people with special needs. To keep abreast of the latest scientific training methods Cheryl attends multiple conferences, seminars and workshops each year so that she can bring the best methods to her clients.
Training Philosophy
Cheryl believes that training is about communication and that dogs do not understand human language. She uses positive reinforcement or “clicker training” to break through the human-canine language barrier and help dogs understand the expectations of their owners.
