In 2009, Karina adopted a Beagle that was later diagnosed with Canine Autism. This, along with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, further strengthened her interest in dog behavior.
In 2012, she apprenticed under Jojo Isorena at BetterDog Canine and Behavior Center in Manila, Philippines, and trained with other professional dog trainers certified under Karen Pryor Academy, the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and Starmark Academy (formerly known as Triple Crown Academy).
She established BesoMomma Canine Casting, which trains and casts dogs (and cats!) in TV commercials. In 2013, Karina began to compete in Agility. In 2014, she relocated to the U.S.
In 2016, she acquired certification under the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and established a New York City-based dog training business, BesoMomma Dog Training and Behavior Management. In 2017, she was invited by Animal Behavior College to be one of its Externship Mentor Trainers.
In 2019, Karina joined Animal Care Centers of New York City as a Volunteer Dog Trainer. By 2023, she was doing business under BESOMOMMA LLC. In addition to teaching Basic and Advanced Obedience, Introduction to Agility, Trick Training, and Clicker Training, Karina has worked with deaf dogs, a dingo/wild dog, and special needs dogs with Canine Autism.
She is very passionate about early puppy socialization, perfecting potty training, crate training, and teaching a robust recall. Her heart is in helping raise puppies, and she hand-picks behavior cases no matter the distance.
