Jenny owes a huge part of her success as a dog trainer to her late pit bull mix, Lucy. In the ten years they spent together, Lucy gave Jenny an education on what it truly means to be a kind, gentle, and effective leader. Jenny made learning fun for Lucy and continues to do that for her current dog, Josie. Her methods are humane and based on the science of learning.
Jenny's background includes many years of volunteer work with shelters and rescue groups and she even worked for the corporate division of the ASPCA. She's spent over a decade training dogs in private lessons and group classes. She's studied with many of the leading animal behavior experts of today, including graduating at the top of her classes when she studied with renowned trainer and author, Pat Miller of PEACEABLE PAWS . Jenny's experience is extensive. She can help you with teaching your puppy basic manners or help you tackle your dog's anxiety or aggression problems. She is recommended by veterinarians and veterinary behaviorists in the local Tri-State area.

MC, pet parent to Doc - We started having trouble with our pup early on in the quarantine, which was terrifying because we didn't know how we'd be able to address it without seeing a trainer in person. Viviane at PumpkinPups was able to quickly meet us for a series of virtual training sessions that almost immediately improved things at home, plus providing us with lots of reading material and videos for reference in between sessions. Sherice, Marshmallow and Family - Thank you again for all of the training tips for our pup Marshmallow. In just 2 weeks after our virtual training session with Viviane, his behavior has completely changed. He is so much calmer. She gave us a lot of tools to help with his crazy outbreaks of nipping and biting, and he is just becoming so much more cuddle-y and friendly. Derek, the owner of Scamps to Champs Dog Training, is a Brooklyn-based trainer. Originally from England, Derek’s love and passion for dogs began at a very early age, always having a variety of breeds as family members. Coming to America has been an exciting time in his life. Joining the Animal Behavior College opened his eyes to the wonderful possibility of using his past background in early childhood development with his new and exciting career as a professional dog trainer. Having this background has helped Derek develop interpersonal relationships between both dogs and their family members as well as develop his classroom teaching style. Derek is a dog lover first, and a dog trainer second. From firsthand experience, he knows the difference dog training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. Without professional training, it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship but, with an investment in good positive training, a wonderful transformation will occur. Derek has been working with dogs and their owners for the last two years, and there is nothing which satisfies him more than to see a happy dog and a happy owner! Key Policy First time pick up and drop off of keys is free. Any other time it is $15 for pick up and drop off of the keys. We can keep a key on file to avoid this fee.

Harriet Zucker

Harriet Zucker is a certified dog trainer who personally evaluates and gets to know each dog in the rescue. Harriet likes to work with the dogs prior to their adoption so she knows what type of home would be best for their personality. Harriet facilitates meet and greets to ensure the transition runs smoothly. Professionally Harriet is a set decorator who works on major films and popular television shows. Harriet lives in Brooklyn with her dogs and takes care of a feral cat colony.

Red Hook Dog Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit group dedicated to helping the special needs animals in NYC. Red Hook Dog Rescue is run by Harriet Zucker, a certified dog trainer who strongly believes in positive reinforcement based training. We believe that it is important to teach animals what to do rather than what not to do. When dogs are properly trained they are more successful in their homes and happier too!

Our mission at Red Hook Dog Rescue is too rescue well, rather than rescue big. We are personally involved in the entire process, from behavior evaluations, training, fostering to adoptions; we accompany the animals we take into our care along their journey. We believe that all animals deserve a chance and we do not give up on our animals regardless of their limitations. Derek, the owner of Scamps to Champs Dog Training, is a Brooklyn-based trainer. Originally from England, Derek’s love and passion for dogs began at a very early age, always having a variety of breeds as family members. Coming to America has been an exciting time in his life. Joining the Animal Behavior College opened his eyes to the wonderful possibility of using his past background in early childhood development with his new and exciting career as a professional dog trainer. Having this background has helped Derek develop interpersonal relationships between both dogs and their family members as well as develop his classroom teaching style. Derek is a dog lover first, and a dog trainer second. From firsthand experience, he knows the difference dog training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. Without professional training, it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship but, with an investment in good positive training, a wonderful transformation will occur. Derek has been working with dogs and their owners for the last two years, and there is nothing which satisfies him more than to see a happy dog and a happy owner! For over a decade she has been learning to help Eddie feel safe in his world and have fun. One of Eddie's trainers, Rikke Brogaard, said to her one day, "You're good at this.
