Adrienne Kepp
Adrienne has been working with dogs for over 20 years. She started out showing her beloved Golden Retriever, Maxine, as an active member of the Somerset County 4-H program. Knowing that she wanted to be challenged more, she started showing on a more competitive level and took Maxine through AKC sanctioned competition and worked her way up to a Companion Dog Excellent (CD-X) obedience title.
After taking a slight hiatus from dog training to become a New Jersey Licensed Optician, she regained her position in the dog world and started volunteering for Rogers' Rescues as a foster home and helped many dogs find their forever families. She worked hard in many aspects of the rescue including transports, post-adoptions and eventually sitting on the Board of Directors. But rescuing was not the final stop for many of these dogs; Adrienne decided to dive back into her training passion and began to work with different dogs. She sat for her exam and earned her training certification, Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). She continued her certification process, earning the next level of CPDT-KSA (Knowledge and Skills Assessed), as well as becoming a Fear Free Certified Professional, an AKC Canine Good Citizen/Trick Dog evaluator and a Certified Trick Dog Instructor with Do More With Your Dog. Adrienne continually participates in continuing education to better her training knowledge.
When not training dogs or teaching classes, Adrienne still stays involved with all aspects of rescue. She also competes in multiple dogs sports with her Bernese Mountain Dogs Lizzie and Heidi.
Training Philosophy
Adrienne's training philosophies originate from the concept of relationship building, not just obedience training. Her methodology focuses on learning and understanding our dog’s behaviors rather than just masking them with obedience cues. In her group classes or private sessions, she approaches her teachings from a relationship perspective. She loves to help her clients understand why their dogs are doing certain behaviors before she starts applying any training methods because she believes it is important that all members of the household see their dogs as an individual with emotions, just like a human family member.
