Cindy Ehlers has been helping animals since she was four years old. She started her dog training career in 1991 as a kennel tech at a small boarding kennel in Elmira (Klassic Tails Inn) and completed her grooming and dog training apprenticeship a year later. During those early years, she worked with behavior challenged dogs as a groomer and kennel tech., offered basic dog training classes and continued to work part time at the boarding kennel. From 2008 through July of 2012, Cindy was the Behavior & Training Coordinator for Lane County Animal Services. During her 4 years she worked extensively with Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes.

Training Philosophy

Cindy follows the recommendations of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), using scientifically-based principles of positive reinforcement, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, desensitization, and counter conditioning to change behaviors. She never uses physical or emotional pain, force, coercion, or harmful corrections to modify behavior.

Services

Cindy offers private consultations in your home, her home office, by phone, or wherever you need her, easing the burden of training for you. Behavior plans are science based, effective and will bring about your dog's desired behavior. Cindy has the skills, experience and knowledge to help your dog become the dog you always wanted.

Initial Consultation/Session

  • Basic naughty dog $195 aprox. 2+hour.
  • Aggression $235 aprox. 2+ hours
  • Service & Therapy $175

Additional Sessions

  • $95. ($75 therapy and service) 60-90 minutes.

Online Consultations

  • Initial consultation- $145 Session length is aprox. 2 hours
  • Additional consultations- $65 Session length is aprox. 60-90 minutes

Adoption consultations

  • $45 Session length is aprox. 30-60 minutes

Service Dog consultations

Dog Day Training & Adventures

  • Training prices are $75 an hour + $10 for pick up and delivery. (1 hour minimum) ~Inquire about group classes~

Dog Walking & House Sitting

  • Dog Walking- $25 an hour
  • House Sitting- $40 a day

Board and train

  • Clients are $150 a day + $25 for overnight stays (Initial consultation required)
  • Rescue groups and shelters are $85 a day (includes overnight)

Service Dog Training

  • It can take 9 to 18 months to train a dog to be a service dog.

Therapy Dog Training

  • In order to become a registered/certified therapy dog team, you and your dog will need to pass an evaluation with a therapy dog organization, know basic manners, be polite around people and neutral dogs, comfortable in various situations and comfortable being handled by strangers.

Animal Assisted Crisis Response

  • This course is designed to prepare first responders with certified therapy dogs to assist in crisis response and peer support and certified dog trainers to train first responders & their K9 to assist in crisis response work. This course requires learners to participate in Zoom lectures, online readings, and submit video. recorded demonstration of skills at the end of each module.
