The program goes beyond the mechanics of obedience commands, aiming to provide a safe, effective, high-quality reward-based training experience. It helps owners develop an optimal relationship with their dog, allowing the dog to see the owner as a safe, strong, dependable, fair, and consistent leader. The technique involves rewarding the dog for well-done behaviors without using compulsion training. Five rewards are used: treats, touch, voice, loose leash, and play. The goal is for the dog to obey willingly, such as coming when called or waiting at the door until given permission to leave the house.
Private lessons are held at the owner’s home, tailored to the specific needs of the owner and the dog. Group classes are held in Skokie, IL, and Deerfield, IL, helping dogs develop attention, focus, and socialization skills around other dogs and people. Additionally, board and train services are offered for clients who need one-on-one help with problem behaviors or to brush up on training while away from home. The program includes AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program Certification.
