Tail Wagging Fun Dog Training, Inc. offers positive reinforcement-based private lessons, with the option to use a clicker. Dogs of all ages are welcome. The trainer specializes in newly adopted shelter dogs, shy dogs with low confidence, and impolite, goofy dogs.
The following certifications are held, along with preferred training equipment:
- Premier Easy Walk Harness
- Premier Martingale collars
- Premier Gentle Leader Head Collars
- Scruffy Guider collars
- Standard snap or buckle collars, and leads
The training philosophy focuses on providing positive reinforcement to both the owner and the dog, offering encouragement for progress rather than solely addressing mistakes. Private in-home lessons are available and the trainer is willing to travel up to 40 miles round-trip.
Teaching began in 1996 after attending a Gary Wilkes/Karen Pryor seminar, and adopting positive reinforcement techniques. The trainer continues to enjoy working with students, their families, and personally adopted shelter/surrender/abandoned dogs. The experience with the latter has been challenging but rewarding, as the dogs have taught valuable lessons about trust and bonding.
The trainer finds joy in witnessing the progress of both her own dogs and her students’ dogs, observing the development of inhibition, trust, and bonding with their families.
