Jean Kolor has over 35 years of experience in animal training and husbandry. She has an educational background in Animal Science from SUNY Cobleskill (AS) and Cornell University (BS). She also has 22 years of practical experience training puppies and young adult dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
Training Philosophy
Jean Kolor is a certified professional dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement methods. She is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy and a Certified Training Partner. She often uses clicker training to help bridge the gap of interspecies communication and speed up the training process.

Private Dog Training:
Jean trains your dog for you while you work, or teaches you to train if you prefer. She also offers private training sessions in your home.

Dog Training Classes:
Jean offers small group dog training classes for puppies and adult dogs. Classes are held on evenings and weekends.

Online Training:
Jean offers online dog training classes and private coaching sessions. She uses a variety of online tools to help you train your dog from the comfort of your own home.

Day Training:
Jean offers a day training program where she trains your dog for you during the day. This program includes three training sessions per week with a certified trainer and one transfer session for you and your dog at the end of each week.

Private Coaching:
Jean offers private coaching sessions in your home where she teaches you how to train your dog yourself. She offers three different private coaching programs: The Delightful Dog, The Polite Pooch, and The Lassie.

Babies, Kids, & Dogs:
Jean offers training services to help families with dogs adjust to the arrival of a new baby or toddler. She is a licensed Family Paws Parent Educator and offers presentations on preparing dogs for baby’s arrival and living with dogs and toddlers.

Jean was incredibly responsive to our questions, any day of the week, and helped us work through all of our puppy frustrations with constructive solutions. She was punctual, flexible to work with our crazy schedule, and we felt comfortable with her from day one. At one point, our pup was scared of getting in and out of the car, so Jean went so far as to even jump in the backseat of the car and demonstrate how to work through Rex’s fears.
We are expecting our first child this summer, and look forward to working with her again, this time with both of our dogs as we welcome our baby into our home!
